Pilkington targets Magpies return

Wed 16 Apr, 03:45 PM

Notts County goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington wants to return before the end of the season after getting the all-clear from the club's doctor. The 34-year-old suffered a leg fracture in a training ground accident at the end of February, but is set to step up his rehabilitation and resume full training next week.

Pilkington admits the home game against Wycombe on April 26 may come too soon for him, but he is determined to be available for the final game of the season at Chesterfield a week later.

"I am very optimistic and I am definitely hoping to be available at Chesterfield. I was aiming for Wycombe, but whether or not I make it is another thing," Pilkington told the club's official website.

"I have been working hard in the gym and I started running again last week. I know I have not played for a while, but my reactions and hand-eye co-ordination is good because I have been working with (goalkeeping coach) Steve Cherry.

"I can still feel it a little bit, so I need to take it steady but I want to be playing again before the end of the season."
