Tommy Spurr has confirmed he now considers himself as a specialist left-back despite breaking into the first team as a central defender. The Leeds-born 20-year-old, a virtual ever-present in Brian Laws' side this season, recently stepped in at centre-half against Scunthorpe, but reverted back to full-back in Monday night's draw against Plymouth.
Spurr, named Wise Old Owls' player of the year this week, told the club's official website: "I felt fine back in the middle, but I consider myself a left back now.
"I think I've had a decent season and I've worked really hard to improve my game in that position.
"I still have things to improve on, like my crossing and shooting, but overall I think I'm developing well and it's nice to be recognised for all the hard work."
