After yesterday contesting the Grand Prix of Portugal, Alex De Angelis and Shinya Nakano were back on track at Estoril today for an important day of testing.
The Team San Carlo Honda Gresini pair got through a huge programme of work alongside Bridgestone's technicians, who gathered crucial data that will help develop tyres specifically suited to the Honda RC212V.
Shinya completed 65 laps today, giving positive feedback about a variety of new tyres and also taking the chance to work on suspension and power delivery. Alex completed 42 laps and focused on testing the new material provided by Bridgestone. The results of the test have been positive for the Sammarinese rider because he improved his yesterday lap time of two seconds.
Bridgestone will now be able to take the data back and analyse it at their Japanese base before using it to come up with new material for the team in their next race at Shanghai, in China, on May 4th.
#56 Sninya Nakano (60 laps – 1.37.66)
“Today we focused mainly on tyre testing with Bridgestone, with the objective of improving our performance in the races and in qualifying. I'm satisfied because we tried a tyre that was already a step forward and now Bridgestone's engineers can gather all the data together and use it in development of some new material for the next race. Other than that we took the opportunity to work on the engine mapping system, trying to get better delivery at the bottom end, and the front fork to try and find some more stability.”
#15 Alex De Angelis (42 laps - 1.37.78)
"Today has gone very well. The new material provided by Brigestone for the tests, here in Estoril, has completely satisfied my expectations in terms of performance. In fact I improved on my best lap time, compared to yesterday race one, earning two second. I'm happy with these tests results because today I feel that there are positive chances to make a good race during the next Grand Prix of China ".
