Fri 16 May, 01:45 PM

Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper Ben Williams is set to leave the Railwaymen in the summer after rejecting a new contract offer. The 25-year-old had firmly established himself as the Alex's number one shot-stopper and started all 46 League One games this season, but he will now leave on a free transfer when his contract expires.

After progressing through the youth ranks at Manchester United, Williams impressed at Gresty Road during a loan spell and joined on a permanent basis four years ago when he was released by the Premier League side.

Following the departure of Clayton Ince, Williams went on to make 148 appearances for Crewe and helped them narrowly avoid the drop this season.
