Premier League - Allardyce blasts Santa Cruz

Eurosport - Sat, 16 May 08:48:00 2009

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce has lost patience with Roque Santa Cruz's transfer talk and accused him of "underhand" tactics.

FOOTBALL Blackburn Rovers Roque Santa Cruz - 0

He wants the Paraguay striker to focus on getting fit rather than giving radio interviews back home. Santa Cruz remains sidelined with a knee injury and will sit out the Sunday's Premier League match against Chelsea.

Allardyce has now become tired of Santa Cruz's outbursts and said: "He has become a little bit underhand. These kind of remarks always sneak out where we cannot control the situation. It has happened too many times for it not to be him and is disappointing."

The former Bayern Munich striker has not played for two months because of the problem yet in the meantime continues to try to engineer a move away from Ewood Park.

Only this week he used the airwaves to reiterate his desire to wear the colours of a bigger club - and he is rapidly losing favour with the fans.

Allardyce added: "That is life today but Roque should really concentrate on getting himself fit and playing football for Blackburn, never mind talking about where his future may lie.

"Without his fitness and his capability of producing more than last season, he will perhaps struggle to get the move he is looking for."

According to Allardyce, Santa Cruz can move but only if the price is right.

"I have always got on with Roque extremely well and explained the situation to him as it lay in January," said the Blackburn boss.

"If someone meets the value, he is gone. It is that simple."

  12. Cruz has realised Big Sam is trying to school himself with chewing gums during practices and matches. maybe thinking he can be like SAF one day. That is why the lad wants to move along because he has practically learn nothing from B Sam.

  13. Big money or no, outside the Big Four, the EPL is the not often the most conducive league for South Americans. If the man's heart is no longer at Blackburn, Allardyce should just let him be. Like it or no, Santa Cruz will keep exercising his fundamental human right to air his views, that is the South American way. same for Tevez at Man U. Otherwise mobilize some more quality Latin talent and he may be respond differently!

  14. The hopes of this santa cruz to join a big club will be dashed when blackburn resist relegation. He'd have joined westham if the relegation contract went thru bt it sounds like he may finally settle for a lesser club with lesser fans, monies and with more talk.
In manutd, we dont need him if this was one of ideas of joining a big club. Why should someone try to john a big club when he's himself a big flop?

  18. What a disappointment Santa Cruz has been this season. His head was elsewhere and he played poor football this year. Not a player someone should invest millions for. Rovers forever and more!

Donnysbeck. I saw you at 105, you were right at the top when I got to the bottom of the article. I used to enjoy deciphering your comments but I`ve just skipped right past you of late. I can`t be arsed. `God, that guy`s getting boring,` I thought to myself. I don`t think it`s you though, I`m a little depressed truth to tell, I think my wife`s shagging the local pub team reserve goalie.
I`m sure I`ll be back snapping at your literary blogerary heals in next to no time.
