Bates backs Grayson to put Leeds back on track

Sat, 16 May 16:35:14 2009

Chairman Ken Bates conceded Leeds are "a year behind schedule" after missing out on promotion to the Championship but is adamant Simon Grayson is the man to take them up.

United were relegated from England's second tier back in 2007 but have suffered play-off heartache for successive seasons in League One.

"We`re a year behind schedule, but we`ll put that right next season," Bates told the club`s official website.

"The players adore him (Grayson) and I think we have a very happy ship.

"Simon has a wicked sense of humour which is great, particularly in the dressing room."

  3. Late as usual Bates! If you had got rid of McAllister and got Grayson two months earlier, even one month earlier we would have been through on Automatic Promotion! NOW PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS!
