Controversial defeat for Dons

Barry Ferguson made a dramatic comeback as Rangers returned to the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League with a 2-1 win over Aberdeen.

However, the Ibrox side will be well aware that a Celtic victory at Hibernian on Sunday will see the defending champions return to the summit with one game remaining.

A Richard Foster own goal and a header from Kenny Miller were enough to seal the points, despite Michael Paton pulling a goal back for the Dons. But whether the narrow victory will be enough for Rangers remains to be seen.

Ferguson was back for the first time since being stripped of the captaincy and banned by the club for his part in the infamous 'Boozegate' affair.

But he was forced to share the headlines with referee Stuart Dougal who was responsible for two harsh straight red cards for Charlie Mulgrew and Madjid Bougherra just days after a fiery exchange with Dundee United boss Craig Levein and a week before his retirement.

Lafferty is a disgrace and should be banned+heavily­ fined i cannot believe that the Rangers club are saying­ nothing??The referee should be ashamed+Lafferty is a­ disgrace to football Maradona has nothing on him!!But­ come on the hoops 1-0 and we are still 2 goals clear+it­ will not be easy at Hibs but im sure Parkhead will lift­ the players to another level next weekend so a win is­ number one no acting or cheating required:-).Give us a­ lovely free kick Nakamura,big Samaras,Jan the Man,and­ mr Macdonald or anyone actually come on the HOOPS:-)

  5. im with you on this lafferty carry on, but i just­ wonder if some of you would be making the same noises­ if it was a player from your team? well done the­ rangers fans who spoke up, but at the end of the day,­ if it wins you the league who's gonna care? if­ Scotland got a Brazilian sent off in the world cup­ final and we won the cup i dont think you would see us­ hiding in shame, and as for england "winning"­ the world cup, they dont sound too embarrassed by the­ fact the ball never crossed the line, i dont remember­ them shouting about that referee.

  8. Steven - we all know that there's always been­ cheating. What we are complaining about is the fact­ that it wasn't even as though the ref had been­ conned! He made a bad decision that should be called­ into account! The SPL are currently considering video­ evidence of "infringements" by Loovens and­ McDonald, which I have made my opinions very publicly­ known here. If they choose to set a precedent by­ punishing players based on video evidence, then the­ same should apply to refereeing decisions. Too often,­ the SPL have been guilty of setting double-standards!­ As I said at point 1, Stuart Dougal should be stripped­ of his Grade One badge!

  9. lol @ cheating... there are too many idiots who cant­ accept that 'cheating' has been a part of our­ game for generations! ok ... Lafferty's a cheat...­ but you name one club who has never been guilty of­ 'diving' and id be VERY impressed.. Henrik­ Larsson was one of the worst divers EVER to bless­ Scottish football! to me he was the Jurgen Klinsmann of­ Swedish football. boohoo... im not gonna cry about it.­ i hate cheating as much as anyone... but its here to­ stay!! so remember that all u numpties who have­ 'Double Standards' EVERY team has been guilty­ of a dive here and there... atleast in the second­ division you have players who are 'MEN' they go­ full in 100% on 50/50's..

Makes no odds who the 2 teams were­ - it defies explanation when Mulgrew gets tackled from­ behind, and gets a red for reacting, but Lafferty stays­ on after the dying swan act. I hope Wattie has a few­ words in his ear about it! Don't take this the­ wrong way, but Ferguson And McGregor embarrased your­ club. Boyd's petulance in refusing to play for­ Scotland while Burley is in charge is yet another. I­ thought yesterday was the icicng on the cake, with­ Broadfoots culinary efforts - but today is yet another­ embarrassment to rangers!
