Gray in no rush to open chequebook

Sat 16 May, 04:39 PM

Stuart Gray will bide his time in the transfer market to make sure Northampton recruit the right players following their relegation to League Two.

The Cobblers boss is happy with the core of his squad but is aware he needs to make additions.

"The squad needs strengthening - that is obvious from where we finished last season - and that is what we are working on," Gray told the club`s official website.

"But we will take our time to bring the right players in. As with a lot of managers up and down the country, it is a case of being patient.

"We have a good base of a squad here already under contract but we need to bring more players in. Over the last couple of weeks a lot of talking has been taking place and hopefully that has paved the way for things to happen as we get closer to the start of pre-season."
