London 2012 - 60 seconds with Liam Tancock
Eurosport spent 60 seconds with Liam Tancock discussing his love of two sporting teams and what there is to do in his home town.
Who is your sporting idol?
I didn't have one. I looked up to anyone who excelled in sport. I always think it's about what athletes do for the sport: Roger Federer made tennis exciting and is an amazing athlete, while David Beckham is a great ambassador for football and the Olympics. And Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button have done so much for F1 in Britain.
If you were not a swimmer, what would you be?
I used to play rugby. I was a winger for Exeter, using my speed and power.
60 seconds has seen you in an Exeter City shirt...
I support both the Chiefs and City and watch them when I can. I follow them on Twitter and they support me as well!
Are you looking forward to being paraded at half-time by City with an Olympic gold medal after the London Games?
I've been out on the pitch at St James Park a few times, showing off my medals! I go on the Big Bank. My sponsor Gregory Distribution has a box at Sandy Park and I've been in there a few times.
What else is there to do in Exeter?
It's close to two seasides, North Devon and the south coast. It's got a lovely cathedral and it's an intimate and small city.
Do you work for the Exeter tourist board?
No, but I should do! I love it.
You can attend any one event in history. What would it be?
England winning the World Cup in 1966, or the Rugby World Cup in 2003.
What is the greatest song ever recorded?
A Michael Jackson track... Billie Jean. Any track off the History album.
Would you swim the full length of the Thames, like David Walliams did in September?
Could you do it?
Course I could! If you asked me how far I could swim, I'd ask you how long have I got? There's no appeal to me of swimming the Channel or anything like that - I'm a speed demon!
