Barnsley will kick-off the 2008/9 season with a trip to Loftus Road and Championship promotion favourites QPR.The Tykes will take on the mega-rich Londoners on August 9 and then play Coventry at Oakwell the following Saturday (August 16) in their opening home match.

Simon Davey's side are scheduled to play the first of six South Yorkshire derbies next season against promoted Doncaster at home on October 4, with Sheffield Wednesday visiting Oakwell on October 21 and a trip to the Keepmoat Stadium for the return against Doncaster the following weekend (October 28).

Sheffield United are scheduled to visit Oakwell on November 8, while Barnsley will visit Hillsborough and Bramall Lane on February 3 and 14 respectively.

Barnsley face a testing run-in in April against Nottingham Forest, Watford, Swansea, Reading and Wolves, before a last-day trip to Plymouth on May 3.
