Boss Simon Davey is excited by the prospect of Barnsley launching the new season at promotion favourites Queens Park Rangers.The Tykes will take on the mega-rich Londoners at Loftus Road on August 9 before their first home game against Coventry, who beat them 4-1 at Oakwell on the opening day of last season.

Davey told the club's official website: "The opening game is always unpredictable and we are away from Oakwell for the first time in four years.

"We have a fixture against one of the richest clubs in the country and one who will probably have a host of new faces in their team by the time we kick off on August 9.

"It's a great one to look forward to and one where we can test ourselves and hopefully show that we can compete again in one of the world's greatest leagues."
