Gills face Cherries in tough opener

Gillingham have been handed a tough start to the League Two campaign with their first two fixtures against teams also relegated last season.Mark Stimson's men kick off on August 9 with a trip to Bournemouth, before welcoming Luton to Priestfield a week later. They then make the long trip north to Darlington on August 23 before rounding the opening month off at home to Accrington.

The Gills play Morecambe for the first time in their history at Priestfield on October 11, while Boxing Day sees a first trip to Dagenham and former Gills boss Peter Taylor makes his return to the club with new charges Wycombe on December 28.

The return clashes of the Christmas fixtures are over Easter, with a trip to Adams Park followed by the visit of the Daggers on Easter Monday, April 13.

And for the second season running the Gills travel on both the opening and final day of the season, rounding off their campaign with a trip to face last season's beaten play-off finalists Rochdale.
