Grimsby Town manager Alan Buckley has swooped to sign Tranmere Rovers defender Robbie Stockdale on a two-year deal.The 28-year-old has agreed to join the Mariners after being deemed surplus to requirements at Prenton Park.

Scotland international Stockdale began his career at Middlesbrough before stints with Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham, Rotherham, Hull, Darlington and Tranmere.

Stockdale joined Rovers in June 2006 and made over 80 appearances for the club.
