Price tag no Laff-ing matter for boss

Mon 16 Jun, 11:00 AM

Burnley boss Owen Coyle is standing firm over the transfer of star striker Kyle Lafferty, who is being chased by Wolves, Celtic and Rangers.Lafferty is attracting plenty of interest in the transfer market - but Coyle insists he will be going nowhere until Burnley's £4million valuation is met.

His comments came after Celtic made an improved offer for the striker, with a package of £2.75million plus Derek Riordan and a friendly worth about £200,000.

But Burnley have officially rejected this bid, as well as Wolves' offer of £2.5million plus Stephen Elliott and Darren Potter.

Lafferty's spokesman Gordon Armstrong has claimed that detailed talks are set to take place in the next few days about a possible transfer.

But the Burnley boss insists no talks will take place until an improved offer is made.

He told the Daily Express: "All the bids have fallen short and that's where we stand. There is nothing to talk about unless someone comes back with an improved offer."
