The 34-year-old's future at the club was in doubt towards the end of last season when he found himself out of the first-team squad and soon to be out of contract.

However, the popular Scot has been offered a new one-year deal which he hopes to sign soon.

"I have talked to the manager, agreed terms and will definitely be staying with Bristol City," Murray told the Evening Post "All that is left to do is actually come into the office and put pen to paper.

"I want to stay, the gaffer wants me to stay and everybody is happy with the situation. In fact, I want to spend the rest of my playing days here.

"I love playing my football here and leaving would have been a massive wrench after so many years with the club."
