Anne Keothavong and Elena Baltacha suffered blows to their Wimbledon hopes after being knocked out of the WTA Eastbourne warm-up tournament.

Keothavong was clearly outclassed as she lost 6-3 6-2 to Austria's Sybille Bammer, and was in philosophical mood afterwards.

"I expected her to be a tough opponent and today I didn't give myself a chance," said Keothavong, who is currently ranked 49th in the world.

"I was spraying balls about and she just had to put the ball in the court.

"Sometimes I can put too much pressure on myself, I know I am capable of beating players like Sybille and today it just wasn't happening for me.

"I expect more from myself, I want to perform well and not let people who support me down."

Baltacha, meanwhile, had an even tougher draw as she faced China's in-form Li Na,who was runner-up at WTA Birmingham at the weekend.

Baltacha lost the first set to her in-form opponent but took an early break in the second before being pegged back, then lost her serve again late in the set to lose 6-2 7-5.

In the men's event, Josh Goodall was beaten by Ivan Ljubicic 6-3 7-5.

Alex Bogdanovic and James Ward remain in the men's draw, and face Dmitry Tursunov and Frank Dancevic respectively in Wednesday's matches.
