Premier League - Angry Carvalho wants exit

Eurosport - Tue, 16 Jun 17:03:00 2009

Ricardo Carvalho said he would welcome a move to Internazionale after accusing Chelsea of neglecting him when he was injured.

FOOTBALL Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho, who wants to move to Internazionale after falling out with the West London club - 0

The Portugal defender is wanted by the Serie A champions, where his former boss Jose Mourinho is in charge.

The 31-year-old endured a frustrating campaign last season and injuries limited him to 18 appearances as the Blues finished third in the Premier League and won the FA Cup.

"I've been at Chelsea for five years, and four of them were very good, but this last season I spent a lot of time out injured," he said in the Daily Star.

"This last year I was injured a lot. I wasn't happy and Chelsea can't have been happy with my contribution.

"Furthermore, when I was injured the club should have given me more support. They should have helped me more, especially given my past four years at Chelsea.

"Their attitude disappointed me a little. I believe my time at Chelsea has come to an end and I'm very happy a big club like Inter are interested in me.

"It's a new challenge and I'd like to play in Italy."

Of former coach Mourinho, Carvalho added: "Mourinho's a coach who knows me better than anybody.

"Together we won big trophies. He's an ambitious coach and a perfectionist.

"Let's see if the clubs can reach an agreement. I'd love to work with Jose Mourinho again."

  2. I dont believe what Carvalho is saying because to me, all he wants is a way to exit. He is a great player and have helped Chelsea all along too, but that they didnt help him when he was injured is a cheap blackmail and tantamount to get the club angry so that he can be sold. I say, keep him if no better replacement for him but if there is, let him go Now. I wish him good luck at Inter.

  3. carvahlo has been a great great player for us,its a shame the last season he has been injured, but the club and chelsea must look to the future, without eachother by the sounds of it,as for deco, well a great player once upon a time, but let him go to the slower pace style of the italian league, good luck and farewell

  4. Let the little @#$% go,Deco as well. Any club should only keep players who want to play for a club (good times & bad times) this modern players have no loyalty any more, the Drog is yet another moody player who wants to go, then wants to stay. The attitude of players is a joke.

  5. Ricarldo Carvalho is on of the great players chelsea have ever had i dont think
is a good idear for us to let him go,to me his apcent in the defence is one of
the factors that let us down i dont think he deserve this treatment i believe
he is the oly sweeper we have in the team, keeping him in the team for another
season will be of a good to us i sugest we let him stay
    please

  6. He was injured while Chelsea went through two managers in a season. Question is: Did the managers actually talk to him on a daily, weekly basis or just get updates from medical staff? Did the other players make him feel he was still part of the squad? This is where Mourinho excels "the mental aspect" both on and off the pitch.

  8. He's not really angry. just a little annoyed thats all. Chelsea are terible at keeping players off the injury list so if he was neglected, it was only because there were so many other injured players getting the medical and fitness staff overworked and sick of have so many players to deal with all the time.

Especially players like joe cole who get injured, over and over and over... again and again and again...You get the idea.

  11. Carvalho has been a great servant for us. Its a shame that he wants to leave. He along with Terry are one of the best central defenders of all time. We wish him all the very best, if thats what he wants.

Btw I still believe that what has been written, may have been tampered a bit. All these players were on international duty/vacation. Its very easy to give interviews in their local language, and then some journalist translates it into english using words that are eye catchy. So one can never be sure.

  12. Chelsea buy Carvalho with 45.000.000 $ and we can sell him with 25.000.00 or 30.000.000

  15. "chelsea" you mean the club? the coach? the players? the fans? what were we supposed to do? hold you hand at the bedside, bring you flowers daily, and cry when you were asleep? grow up and be a man. you weren't dying. you were only injured and out of football. all these portuguese players should leave england and never come back. a bunch of prima donas all of them. since it comes to this ricky, don't let the door hit you on your way out. i used to credit you a lot as a defender to the point were I would put you ahead of terry but i can't respect you as a football if I can't respect you as a man. adios and never bring your face back here.

Loving the lack of class from some of the Chelski 'faithful', true to form as ever. Oh, and one more thing, Alex is not a good player, not even close. He's about as good as Titus Bramble.

  20. carvahlo will be greatly missed if he does leave he has been an integral part of the "Rich" chelsea but dont think mancienne is any where near as good or even have the potential be be as good as carvahlo. Best solution for all of chelsea's problems is very simple just bring Mourinho back he has been the only manager to bring success to the club in over 50 years it was stupid of abramovich to get rid of him (FA cup doesnt really count cause lets face it its worth @#$%). None of the players have played to their full potential since Jose has left they came close with hiddink but obviously still not good enough.

Blue blood will always run through these veins
