Eurosport - Tue, 16 Jun 17:05:00 2009

Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue could be on his way out of the Emirates after revealing he is unhappy at the Premier League club.

The Ivory Coast international, who can also play on the right wing, has grown frustrated by his failure to hold down a regular starting spot. And, despite only having signed a new deal last summer, the 26-year-old admits he could be set to leave England.

"It would be hard," Eboue told France Football. "But I think it would be harder to experience another season like this one, too far off the pitch... In any case, if I leave Arsenal, it would be for another league because it is out of the question that I develop elsewhere in England."

Eboue moved to Arsenal from Beveren in January 2005 and became a first-team regular in the second half of the following season.

However, inconsistent form saw him overtaken by Bacary Sagna and Theo Walcott in the pecking order.

He was booed by the Gunners fans back in December after coming off the bench against Wigan and was himself substituted.

  2. ian.gatens,do you remember when Arsenal went to the champions league final? Its defence comprised of Flamini,Senderos,Toure and Eboue. And you want 2 of those to share the same taxi out?comeon! Eboue is an asset to arsenal (he can even dribble better than Ronaldo)

  3. Eboue has talent. He's shown it time and again on the pitch. He gives a different dimension and is often a great option. We need to keep our utility players as we always have injury problems and our squad is not the deepest. Yes he's had some problems stemming from injuries and resulting in lack of first team consistency and thus sometimes lacking the edge he's capable of.
Arsene just needs to find a way to keep him happy even if there's no first team spot for him. We should keep him, after all we need proper depth and dimension.

  18. Yall should all shut up. Did anyone of you making these comments make it to the premier league.NO! So give Eboue some slack he plays very well. He is a great player if he wants to leave it is a loss but hopefully a new and better chapter for him.

  19. Eboue would be missed by me. He was a great option. He was versatile enough to play in the back line and a winger effectively. He made a good contribution last season despite his horror show against Wigan. He got 6 goals and more than a few assists. He is capable of being amazing and I would be sad to see him leave. He is a joy to watch for me!

  20. A utility player Eboue is. It would be a big loss if we should let a player of his calibre leave. How many times could you have a player of his quality and resolve. Eboue is a match winner, keep him Asene.
