Premier League - Mourinho wants Deco and Carvalho

Eurosport - Tue, 16 Jun 07:46:00 2009

Internazionale coach Jose Mourinho is eager to sign Portuguese duo Ricardo Carvalho and Deco from Chelsea, according to the Italian club's president.

2009 Chelsea Deco Carvalho - 0

Midfielder Deco played for Mourinho at Porto where they won the 2004 Champions League while centre back Carvalho won two Premier League titles under his Portuguese compatriot at Chelsea.

"There is still no agreement with Chelsea but I think we will manage to find one shortly," Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"The coach has asked us for Deco and Carvalho and we are trying to make him happy. We want to take both of them and I'm pleased to see the two players want to come here."

The 31-year-old Deco, who only signed for the Londonersfrom Barcelona last year, has expressed his unhappiness at being given a bit-part role at Chelsea at the end of last season.

Moratti said Inter were also fans of Chelsea striker Didier Drogba but stopped short of saying they would again bid for the Ivorian.

Inter, in the process of buying Genoa striker Diego Milito and midfielder Thiago Motta, are trying to keep hold of Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the Sweden striker said he needed a new challenge.

Moratti has played down the chance of a swap deal with Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o and said no offers had yet arrived for Serie A's top scorer last term.

  5. Carvallho should stay. Ricardo is still a World class defender, and alongside JT and Co. (can we have Glen Johnson back, and keep our defensive squad intact generally, if everyone is happy with that) will be a major asset. Deco? ... Well, that depends very much on what Ancelloti wants to do with the 'last two thirds'. The man scored a superb goal on his debut, but, of course, will not settle without the starts. Also, to lose Malouda, and Drog (Yeah, yeah. I hear many groaning) would be as much of an error as missing out on Tevez. As I said the other day, not TOO much "All Change here for Fulham Broadway" please!

  6. TAFF Mourinho WILL NEVER BE A LOSER, he has to much class for that. Had that Russian CZAR (after Drogba and Terry stabbed him in the back) not sacked him, Chelsea would have ruled Europe, alas you blew it again, now your just another team.

  15. I am with the Chelsea boys here. Deco was too old and past it and absolute rubbish. The other one, never can spell it, is a class player. I would split the difference and Mourhino will be the loser.

  17. They can have Deco who has most certainly not proved himself after a multi-million transfer, but Carvallho has often been Chels' best defender, which when one has the likes of Terry, Cole, Alex and the Portuguese right back in the side, and Abramovich wants to win the European Champions League, then CFC will not want him to go.
