Premier League - Mourinho wants Deco and Carvalho

Eurosport - Tue, 16 Jun 07:46:00 2009

Internazionale coach Jose Mourinho is eager to sign Portuguese duo Ricardo Carvalho and Deco from Chelsea, according to the Italian club's president.

2009 Chelsea Deco Carvalho - 0

Midfielder Deco played for Mourinho at Porto where they won the 2004 Champions League while centre back Carvalho won two Premier League titles under his Portuguese compatriot at Chelsea.

"There is still no agreement with Chelsea but I think we will manage to find one shortly," Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"The coach has asked us for Deco and Carvalho and we are trying to make him happy. We want to take both of them and I'm pleased to see the two players want to come here."

The 31-year-old Deco, who only signed for the Londonersfrom Barcelona last year, has expressed his unhappiness at being given a bit-part role at Chelsea at the end of last season.

Moratti said Inter were also fans of Chelsea striker Didier Drogba but stopped short of saying they would again bid for the Ivorian.

Inter, in the process of buying Genoa striker Diego Milito and midfielder Thiago Motta, are trying to keep hold of Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the Sweden striker said he needed a new challenge.

Moratti has played down the chance of a swap deal with Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o and said no offers had yet arrived for Serie A's top scorer last term.

Carv must stay, but the little play maker can go, as can Kalou. As long as Sheva does not come back to us i will be a very appy pensioner! Love from Chelsea Mick.

  4. id get rid of deco in a flash but you need the experience of carvalho at the back, rooney said he's the toughest defender he's played against. but why keep deco when his legs are gone and he cant last the full 90 in the prem. he'll be a sucess in italy and everyone will say it was a bad move to sell but he's had his chance and after the first 10 games didnt look up to it.

  9. Both excellent players... Carvalho one of the most intelligent defenders I've watched play...
Deco also a little genius, Chelsea just don't know how to use him, and can't fit him in their current formation.
Although, he would fit in Ancelotti's preferred formation.

  10. Chelsea must overhaul the ageing team..carvalho should go..chelsea have alex, ivanovic and manchienne.i think its time for chelsea to buy zhyrikov, sturridge, dembele, segesson and ashley young and go for ribery or aguero if they can. Also, they should start looking for replacements for ballack and belleti cos they shouldnt be at chelsea next season

  12. well well well! Deco finaly goes out! he wasted chelsea's money. i didnt see any impact from Deco. it was a loss indeed. for Ricardo we will miss his defensive game and teamwork with John Terry. all the best to both players and i hope Jose will not regret.
