Blades land Vale ticket

Sheffield United have been drawn to play Port Vale at Bramall Lane in the first round of the Carling Cup for the second successive season.

Goals from Lee Hendrie, Stephen Quinn and Danny Webber clinched the Blades a 3-1 win over the League Two side at the same stage of the competition last season.

The tie will be played during the week commencing on August 10.
