Burton manager Paul Peschisolido was delighted after the Football League newcomers were handed a plum tie against Reading in the Carling Cup first round.
New boss Peschisolido will take his side to the Madejski Stadium the week commencing August 10 in what will be one of his first games in charge of the Brewers.
It will be Burton`s first-ever game in the League Cup as the competition had not been formed the last time they were in the Football League.
"I am absolutely delighted and it is wonderful for the club. It is a fantastic draw and I am so pleased for the players," Peschisolido told Sky Sports News.
"I have been fortunate enough to experience a bit of giant killing in my career as a footballer and this is a chance for someone to make a name for themselves."
