Frustrated Eboue 'could leave Arsenal'

Tue 16 Jun, 03:53 PM

Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue could be on his way out of the Emirates after revealing he is unhappy at the Barclays Premier League club.

The Ivory Coast international, who can also play on the right wing, has grown frustrated by his failure to hold down a regular starting spot. And, despite only having signed a new deal last summer, the 26-year-old admits he could be set to leave England.

"It would be hard," Eboue told France Football. "But I think it would be harder to experience another season like this one, too far off the pitch... In any case, if I leave Arsenal, it would be for another league because it is out of the question that I develop elsewhere in England."

Eboue moved to Arsenal from Beveren in January 2005 and became a first-team regular in the second half of the following season.

However, inconsistent form saw him overtaken by Bacary Sagna and Theo Walcott in the pecking order.

He was booed by the Gunners fans back in December after coming off the bench against Wigan and was himself substituted.

  1. Its a shame he is an ok player now he has stopped diving and feigning injury.
His problem is he is really not as good as the 1st eleven when they are all fit he is a very good squad player and seems to do quite well when he comes off the bench.
I hope he can adapt to being a squad player but if he is that unhappy better to let him go

  2. He could be very good given the right advice, he has pace and strenght but I wish he would stop diving and acting injured, I like the way he goes at oppositions defence but spoils it by going down too easily, if he stayed on his feet more he would cause lots of problems. Also an honest player gets more respect from not only from his own supporters but the oppositions as well, I dont like cheats not even if they are benefiting my beloved Arsenal. I would love Eboue to stay if he could change but doubt whether he can?

  3. Is he a world class player no, would he get into any other of the 3 teams in England no. So get rid of him and get the players we need to make other teams scared of us again.

  5. He's a utility/squad player at best - simply doesn't have the skills to feature among an injury-free Arsenal starting 11. Fact. But since he clearly isn't happy with a role on the bench, I reckon we should let him go and get as much money as we can in the process. Now, having said that, I find Arsenal relatively quiet on the transfer market so far. I really hope things will start picking up soon!!!

  6. he is a veratile player, he is valuable to our squad
wenger converted him from a rightback to an attack minded creative midfielder it would be bad for arsenal if he went

  7. I for one will miss Eboue. He is not exactly a bad player or our best player. But he is a player that we need to keep. I think we need to keep all of our current squad and not do what happened last season like letting Hleb and Flamini leave. But i do understand it is not fair keeping a player who does not want to play for you. And my fellow so called Arsenal fans who booed Eboue when he was substituted should be ashamed. Its disrecpectful booing any player never mind booing one of your own.

  8. I think he lost his position due to injury in the first place and sagna made the right back position his when he got back. I agree that it was unfair to him for wenger to then try him in various midfield positions where someone else was always better when they came back. Not many people remember that wenger had introduced sagna as "versatile at the left or right back positions" and he was given the no. 3 shirt because the original intention was to use him as cover on the left. So why should eboue be the one to roam around like flamini did for a couple of years when sagna was bought for that role. I like the guy and have always looked down on the boo boys who affected his confidence. FFS he is the only one left in the team who can give schtick to the opposition like viera used to. He always delivered in big games unlike those that go missing.

  9. I am sorry to see Emmanuel Eboue unhappy at Arsenal.

Although he hasn't had a regular first team place, Eboue is an average player, because he can play in the defence and on the wing.

I am sure he should consider, Eboue to stay at the Emirates and who knows he can do well.

  10. He should put in more effort and try to curtail the aggression.

  11. this would be a big blow to arsenal, i dont know why he didnt start more games because he is influential
a lot of fans dont like eboue but i do, he doesnt get the credit he deserves
i hope he stays because he'll only be replaced by inexperience
