Rochdale have been handed a testing trip to Sheffield Wednesday in the first round of the Carling Cup.
The sides met at the same stage of the competition seven years ago when a solitary strike from Gerald Sibon condemned Dale to a 1-0 defeat at Hillsborough.
Ties are to played in the week beginning Monday, August 10.
