Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale insists they will not sell Rangers target Glenn Loovens for £1.5million - saying they value him 'much higher'.Reports have claimed that Loovens is a target for the Gers after they failed to agree personal terms for Watford centre-half Danny Shittu.
A figure of £1.5million has been mooted, but Bluebirds chairman Ridsdale insists the Dutchman's value is in excess of that figure.
Ridsdale is also reluctant to consider selling Loovens, who has yet to accept the offer of a new three-year contract at Ninian Park.
"I've heard reports about an interest from Rangers, but I've heard nothing from the club," Ridsdale told Record PM.
"The figure being reported may well be £1.5million, but our valuation is far and away in excess of that figure.
"We would look at a significantly higher figure before even thinking about it, and anyway we're talking about a player who is most certainly not for sale."
One option which reports say could be considered is for Rangers to offer Kris Boyd in a swap deal for Loovens, with Cardiff confirmed admirers of the Scotland international striker.

What the hell are rangers tryin to do. If they get rid of Boyd then who will be the new top goal scorer. Boyd pledged his allegance to Rangers and now they dont allow him to play in leauge matches, now they are trying to sell him to cardiff. What is their problem I am a firm Rangers supporter but what the hell is Walter Smith doin he needs his head lookin at, so does McCoist if he is allowing this.

If loovens is sold there is going to be a backlash by the fans you cannot sell your best defender you start getting your team together from the back forward to your stikers otherwise you start leaking goals right from the start of the season our defence would be distroyed,loovens and johnson are the best defensive pair in the championship, and would be a big mistake if they were broken up.colin
