Wed 16 Jul, 01:45 PM

Valeri Bojinov has reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester City by insisting he is more than content to stay at Eastlands. The end is finally in sight for the Bulgarian as he looks to draw a line under 11 months out with a cruciate ligament injury.

Despite having made just three appearances for City, two of which came off the substitutes' bench, Bojinov has been linked with a return to Serie A, where he previously played for Lecce and Fiorentina.

But he is determined to prove himself to new manager Mark Hughes and embrace a fresh start in Manchester.

"I have seen the stories and no I don't want to move back to Italy," he told the club's official website.

"I'm happy in Manchester and want to stay because City is a very important club. After a year of injuries, I'm happy because the club and the manager have given me a chance to stay at City.

"I don't want to go to Italy because I want to play for Manchester City, the fans and for myself, in the Premier League. The Premier League is very important and I want to show the new manager what I can do."
