Preston manager Alan Irvine believes his North End side need to improve on their performance following the 2-0 friendly win over Chorley.Second-half goals from Neil Mellor and Barry Nicholson gave the Lilywhites the win at Victory Park.
Irvine was pleased to see Mellor and Nicholson get on the scoresheet but admitted the team didn't play as well as they could.
"It was a good workout. It was obviously the first time that the lads have played 90 minutes and I'm delighted about that," he told the club's official website.
"Neil's a good finisher and when he broke through I expected him to score. Barry nearly scored at the weekend so he's showing that he has an ability to arrive in the box.
"I can't fault the lads with the way they went about their job because they were thoroughly professional in what they did, we just didn't play as well as we could do."
