Mark Hughes will hand Jo his Manchester City debut as the Blues get their UEFA Cup campaign underway in the Faroe Islands against EB/Streymur.EB are part-timers and they are expecting a hammering. Hughes will give his side every chance of that in his first game as Eastlands boss.
Record signing Jo, the £18million Brazilian from CSKA Moscow, will make his debut at the 6,000-capacity Torsvollur stadium in the islands' capital, Torshavn.
EB's own ground only holds 1,000 - a third of the small town's population - so the fixture has been moved, which will be a relief for Setanta who have concluded a deal to televise the first leg live.
That will be an equal relief for City fans back home, being given the chance to see their new manager and new record signing make their collective debuts for the club.
A hardy band of 250 fans have made the trip, mostly via Copenhagen. But there is a remarkable group of fans, already legends in their own happy hour, who have travelled via Aberdeen, the ferry to the Shetlands and then a hired trawler. They left Manchester on Monday.
Hughes and his squad took two hours on a charter to get to the Faroes on Wednesday, and he is leaving nothing to chance for this tie, City qualifying for this stage via the Fair Play league.
Jo will lead the attack, and there is also a place in the squad for striker Rolando Bianchi who managed just 10 starts under former boss Sven-Goran Eriksson before being sent out on loan last season.
Micah Richards is also likely to play after returning from injury. Richard Dunne, fresh from signing a new contract, will skipper the side.
Hughes takes goalkeepers Joe Hart and Kasper Schmeichel, while Bernardo Corradi has picked up an injury in training.
Kick-off is at 7pm.
