Real coy over Ronaldo price tag

Wed 16 Jul, 09:45 AM

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon will not be drawn on how much the Spanish champions will pay for Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo. It has been claimed in the media that Madrid would be willing to splash out up to 100 million euros on the 23-year-old, smashing the current world record transfer fee, but Calderon continued to insist the matter was out of their hands.

"We cannot pay anything because he is a player who is not for sale," Calderon was quoted as saying by Spanish media.

"It is not a matter for Real Madrid but for Manchester (United) and the player. If he wants to go, then we will be alert as long as it's for a reasonable price."

  2. Yeah, I remember the Tevez thing. west Ham couldn't afford to keep hold of him because of the unregistered player saga, and Man U did some business with them, and they were happy to sell. Remember that Tevez wasn't actually West Ham's player, as they were loaning him from Kia Joorabchian and his weird company. So don't talk about a completely different transfer when it is no where near the same context as this Ronaldo saga. @#$%

  3. Hey, i cant believe the way football transfer is going these days. How can you sign a contract (cos you want to secure your future) and your manager and the club builds you into a very fine player and as soon as they achieve this, you say you want to leave and everybody supports that. That is unfair on a club trying to build a future with a group of players.
however, because Man U also do to others what Real Madrid are doing with ronaldo (remember Tevez), i think they should let him leave if he wants to.

  4. Cant wait until we get rid of him, meet Madrid in the champions league semi and knock them out at Old Trafford so that he can cry in front of the Stretford End and we can all boo him and show him what a pthetic money grabbing little @#$% he is. I've learnt a lot about football and the greedy twats who run it and play it during this transfer saga, shame we don't have more honest and professional players like (and yes, it pains me to say it) Torres. Who has been the embodiment of commitment, professionalism and general good qualities since he arrived. Gutted he plays for Liverpool!

  6. From "Hobgoblin" in Manchester...
It isnt up to Fifa, Uefa or Real Madrid for Ronaldo to go, it is Man Utds choice...
If Ronaldo plays it cooly, which he hasnt, United would let him go but he's been a sneaky sod so if I were Fergie, Id play ronaldo in the Reserves for an entire season...
The United fans have already turned on Ronaldo...
No player is bigger than Manchester United!

  9. I read a post from a Spaniard who said that Real Madrid have always acted in a cavalier fashion concerning other players and clubs, particularly whem Franco backed them. To this extent, they have nearly always got their way, and gone unpunished by the footballing authorities.

In Spain they are known as the government's team and as such despised by the other clubs' supporters.

Don't know how accurate this opinion is but it does make you think given the way they have conducted themselves over Ronaldo and probably others. Mind you, having Blattermouth and Platini batting for you must help!
