Scunthorpe new boy Garry Thompson is happy with the way he has settled in at Glanford Park after his first appearance for the club.The former Morecambe midfielder played the first half as Nigel Adkins' men secured a 2-1 pre-season victory against Unibond League side Brigg on Tuesday.

"I think the first game is all about getting your fitness, and getting to know the lads - how they play and how the gaffer wants us to play," Thompson told the club's official website.

"I was little bit nervous because it was my first game but the lads have been great and to be honest in the end I didn't think too much about it. I just did what the gaffer asked.

"All the lads have been superb. I feel like I have been here months rather than weeks, they've taken to me and I've taken to them. They're all good lads.

"They all want to work hard, and want to play football - which is the reason why I came here."
