Man Utd 'ready' to discuss Ronaldo deal: press

Wed 16 Jul, 12:53 PM

MADRID (AFP) - Manchester United may finally be ready to talk about selling Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, the Spanish sports newspaper Marca reported Wednesday.

The Glazer family, which bought the club in 2004, "has agreed to the operation," as they feel his value could decrease if they hold onto him, it said, quoting sources close to the affair.

Real Madrid are believed to be prepared to offer around 85 million euros (134 million dollars) for the 23-year-old, who is under contract at United until 2012, and pay him nine million euros on a five-year deal.

Ronaldo, a boyhood Real fan, has consistently been linked with a move to the Spanish capital since the end of last season, after scoring an impressive 42 goals last term as United won both the Premier League and Champions League.

  1. i hate it wen i hear people say Ronaldo is not faithful to ferguson, u talk about been faithful! wat happened to the likes of beckham, van, heinze? it is this same ferguson that treated them as if they ve neva contributed to the club, and u are talkin about been faithful, wen u only want players to satisfy u and only u alone.

take note of this, man u never made ronaldo, he already had the potential just like nani, only that he had a chance of gaining more exposure..... i already know him very well b4 coming to man u, but he was a little boy with great vission. man u made players like gigs, scholes, brown, nevile.....leave it or u take it, it is the fact....... stay blessed.

  4. SAF will have to sell him, especially after his agreeing to Blatter's "modern slavery" comment. Even if he scores 80 goals next season, Ronaldo can no longer persuade any ManUtd fan that he loves Man Utd and is proud to be playing for them.

  10. I think Man U should make an example out of Ronaldo. Don't sell him and if he refuses to play at the level we know he can bench him. They will not lose money on him after the last 2 season he has had. Show players that when they sign a contract they have to honor that contract.
