Drogheda Keep Euro Dreams Alive

Wed 16 Jul, 11:09 PM

Drogheda came from behind to keep their European dream alive with a 2-1 victory over Estonian champions Levadia Tallinn in the first leg of their Champions League first qualifying round match at Dalymount Park.

Levadia took the lead with a 27th-minute goal from Tarmo Kink - but Ollie Cahill levelled the scores.

And, after his 50th-minute leveller, fellow midfielder Fahrudin Kudozovic netted a 69th-minute goal which gives the side from the Republic of Ireland the edge going into next week's return leg.

Linfield face an uphill struggle if they are to reach the second qualifying round after they lost 2-0 to Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb at Windsor Park.

The Northern Irish side were undone by strikes in each half from Mario Mandzukic and, on the verge of full-time, Pedro Morales.
