Ghaly Eyeing Egypt Return

Wed 16 Jul, 04:09 PM

Tottenham midfielder Hossam Ghaly is considering a return to Egypt with his former club Al-Ahli should he fail to receive any offers from European outfits in the coming weeks.

The 27-year-old is surplus to requirements at the Premier League club after a disagreement with previous manager Martin Jol. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Derby and is now desperate for a fresh start.

"I am still anticipating offers from Europe, but if nothing came this summer then a return to Ahli on loan could be fitting," he told FilGoal.com.

"It would be meaningless to stay with Tottenham this season because the board made it clear that my chances of playing are limited after last year's problem."

Ghaly concedes a knee injury sustained during Egypt's 2-0 win over Malawi in a World Cup qualifier last month has not helped his search for a new club.

He added: "I am really disappointed with the timing of the injury, but I hope to be fit soon."
