Scottish side Dunfermline and Irish Cup winners Drogheda United both drew with Swedish opposition in the UEFA Cup in the first leg of their second qualifying round tie.

Stephen Kenny - Dunfermline - 0

Dunfermline face an uphill struggle to get through as they drew 1-1 with BK Hacken after a debut to forget for 21-year-old goalkeeper Sean Murdoch.

Jim Hamilton headed the Fifers ahead in the first minute but Murdoch - on for the injured Roddy McKenzie - saw a harmless long ball bounce over his head for Jonas Henriksson to nod a second-half away goal.

The Swedes deserved their draw after producing the better football for much of the game although Hamilton hit the post as the Pars threatened from set-pieces.

Irish representatives Drogheda also played out a 1-1 draw, against Swedish outfit Helsingborgs.

Former Celtic, Barcelona and Manchester United Henrik Larsson gave the visitors the lead on 34 minutes.

But Drogheda staged a spirited second-half recovery and levelled the game nine minutes after the interval when Richie Baker's pass was calmly slotted past Daniel Andersson by Eamon Zayed from 12 yards out.

And the League of Ireland club might have grabbed a winner with Shane Robinson and Tony Grant denied by blocks by Andreas Jakobsson.
