La Liga - Ozil 'agrees terms' with Real Madrid

Eurosport - Mon, 16 Aug 10:22:00 2010

Real Madrid expect to complete the signing of Manchester United target Mesut Ozil within the next two days, according to Marca.

The Spanish paper reported that personal terms have already been agreed with the player and now a fee with Werder Bremen is the only thing that needs to be finalised.

Real had an initial bid of €9 million (£7.4m) rejected, but have now upped their bid to €14m although Bremen are still thought to want €18m.

After Real put in their first offer Bremen director of sport Klaus Allof said: "We have received an unacceptable offer that does not even provide any basis for negotiations."

Jose Mourinho confirmed his desire to sign the player last Friday when he said: "He is a very good player and I would be delighted were he to come to us.

"Bremen have said no so we will have to see how things develop.

"If he comes, it would certainly be excellent. Ozil would definitely help us.''

The 21-year-old playmaker, part of an exciting World Cup team who finished third in this year's finals in South Africa, has been the target of several major European clubs.

Mourinho's arrival at the Bernabeu has raised expectations that the Spanish league's big spenders can end Barcelona's two-year reign as champions and Ozil's Germany team-mate Sami Khedira has already joined the Madrid club since the World Cup.

  1. i dont know what he was thinking, it would have been much better for him if he join barcelonan, real madrid has so much big players ....there is quite a chance he would be wasting his talent as benchwarmer.

  4. I can't believe he didn't decide to come to united and fergie didn't put a decent bid in for him, but then again chelsea come along and throw a load of cash at Bremen to try and buy him instead... Well very upset to hear they havn't won the race, poor chelsea haha!!

  5. how the @#$% does everyone know what he will be doing at real madrid... how can u already know he will be warming up the bench??? haven't u heard the news... kaka is out for around 4 months... n even when he comes back... do u see mourinho as a manager that selects his first 11 based on the name and not the performance of each indivudual??? dumb ppl... u badly need to sort ur lives out... i hate it when everyone comments on real madrid, especially the english, when they have 2 identical teams in their own league that like spending the big cash... should i remind the names of those teams??? oh yea n if everything goes well for liverpool... it might turn into 3...

  7. John, shut the hell up you f****** prick, a******, piece of s***, go and f*** yourself man, if you support liverpool let me tell you this, dont start making excuses just because you had a fat spanish paella in charge who left the club in a mess and remember you're no longer england's most successful club solely because as we all know Man Utd won the community shield therefore equalling liverpool's record of 59 trophies overall b****. Just suck yourself man because you drastically need to do your home work on football.
F*** Liverpool, Man Utd until i die.

  12. What the hell does RM need him for?!!? And why would this kid wanna go to a club that's not gonna guarantee first team football? I'm a fan of Real and I just can't understand the logic of buying a player that needs to develop by playing with stability. Ozil will find himself on the bench, and when he does play, he'll be playing with enormous pressure that I don't think he could handle. It's gonna be benzema deja vu. The best signing was sergio canales for sure. He has class and composure at a very young age, unlike many players who join real possess. Please real, don't sign this kid for everyone's sake!

  13. o dear o dear o dear another top world cup player doesn't want to sign for united & we all know the reason why don't we? cos united r finished in england & definetely in europe so ta~ra united u had your glory years & u still never made it into europes golden club of 5 european cup wins, byebye.

  15. Bundesliga and EPL are feeders for the Spanish league (which now only consists of 2 teams). In spite of the fact that Madrid don't spend from their own accounts and that Barca have huge debts, Blatter says nothing. He has, however, persisently complained about the EPL spending power and tried to limit it. This in spite of the fact that, in the case of Chelsea and Man City they are doing nothing different to Real, and in the case of Man U and Liverpool their debts have been put on them by American mercenaries.

  16. Real Madrid is a retirement home. You get lots of pesetas, sangria, signoritas and sunshine. Not much football but you are guaranteed to finish 2nd to Barcelona each year since the rest of La Liga is rubbish.

  17. Khedira now ozil i think real could get 1 or 2 more of that german team before the end of august & englands dominance of the champions league is well & truly over for the forseeable future
