Former New York Rangers forward Nikolai Zherdev has agreed a one-year contract with Atlant Mytishchi of the Continental Hockey League.
"Everything has been agreed and he should sign the contract on Wednesday," Atlant spokesman Gennady Nabatov said.
Nabatov did not specify how much Zherdev would earn, saying: "It would definitely make him the highest-paid player on our team."
The Russian, a first-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2003, was the Rangers' second highest scorer last season after being traded to New York in 2008.
The 24-year-old right wing became an unrestricted free agent last month after the Rangers declined to sign him for $3.9 million following an arbitration hearing.
Earlier, he rejected the Rangers' $3.25m qualifying offer.
