Derby have received more bad news on the injury front with Paul Green and Jake Buxton set for spells on the sidelines.
Green has only just returned to the first team after seemingly recovering from a foot injury but the midfielder has suffered a setback and could be out for up to six weeks.
Clough said: "We are not quite sure what the diagnosis is but he may need an operation and we could lose him for four to six weeks.
"There is obviously something that's not right with his foot. We were advised by the specialist that if Greenie rested his foot during the international break it would be fine.
"He played against Sheffield United (on Saturday) and then a few days later he started feeling it again. So something is not right and we will have to investigate it further."
Central defender Buxton has experienced discomfort in his stomach and Clough fears it may be a hernia problem.

Like other teams better get some loan cover quick! After all the general injury situation since the start of the season has been a constant problem, management have just not done anything about it. Now the poor performance of the remaining squad means some injection of confidence and spirit desperately needed. Suggest Hendrie in Saturdays STARTING line up, at least he gets stuck in and shows a sense of urgency.
