Female boxer Francia Elena Bravo had a big surprise at the 14-day advance weigh-in for her world title clash against Ana Maria Torres as she discovered she was pregnant.
The World Boxing Council insists upon a mandatory pregnancy test during the weigh-in a fortnight before the fight, and Colombian fighter Bravo was stunned at the news that she is expecting.
She had been scheduled to challenge WBC female super flyweight world champion Torres on October 31 in Mexico.
"The World Boxing Council wishes Francia Elena Bravo the best of luck on her beautiful motherhood journey," a statement read.
Bravo, a 20-year-old Colombian with 11 wins from 14 previous fights, had only fought once outside her home country once before, losing to Yesica Yolanda Bopp in Buenos Aires for the WBC international light flyweight title last year.

Tis a well known fact that women cannot box. In fact they couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. They should stick to what they can do..giving men pleasure, like this one did.
waltjabasco, #245 Nah, she wouldn't have got pregnant that way.
so what
The article did not say that she was 6 months pregnant, just that she was found to be pregnant - she could have been in very early stages in pregnancy in which case there would not be any 'signs' or changes to her body that she would notice - now the weightlifter giving birth during training is another story!
just have to say good luck to her and her baby!
Bet she went down quicker than ricky hatton.
Congrats and good luck, that's what i say!!!!......
fight me then
poor woman well she might of thought she was safe .......but she wasn't now she has blown here chance bad luck to here
How very narrow minded of some people, not everyone has the same experiences in pregnancy, not all mine where the same, and all womens bodies react in different ways. Accidents do always happen, no matter how careful you are... I say Congrats to the woman and good luck, and ignore all the negative people in the world!!!

I cannot see for the life of me how someone can be pregnant and not be a ware of the changes that it has allparts of the female anatomy, especially around the breast area, I wish I could have had that experience when I conceived my 3 children. Anyway what has happened to contraception there is enough information out there.
Just curious, but if she didn't notice her periods had stopped does that suggest that it's a common thing for female boxers to have happen during intensive training?
Otherwise, congrats to the lass.
wow - aren't we a bitter and cynical lot today. congratulations and good luck to her. it think the point of the story is more about the unusual circumstances she discovered her pregnancy in rather than the fact that she is pregnant.
stupid girl, many ways to pleasure herself instead of using mans ++=nis
Can nyone tell this mother to be where to get a free PS3 or where to find a date....oh, it looks like she's already found out!
Comment: The Holy Bible said go ye & multiply.
He did not say, go & fine money. keep going. Sunny
If a woman wants a career in boxing so be it. My only concern in this case is about a foetus receiving a beating of its life in the ring due to lack of discipline. One of the rules of boxing is you cannot punch your opponent below the waist & if you do so you will be disqualified and lose the match, hence if you are a professional woman boxer, avoid being "punched" below the waist whilst asleep with him prior to the main fight as this may disqualify you from competing in the next match. Let your guys know the importance of any future events you wish to take part & prepare to make sacrifices to you lifestyle during prematch training. Why blame everything on sexism, racialism etc. when society has developed an inferiority complex. Common sense isn't so common anymore considering stupid cases we have seen on TRISH GODDARD & JEREMY KYLE. All universities need to introduce such degree courses for a better society in future.
To Kelly B Mr who said best wishes to the mother.
You've made the most constructive comment so far.
I wish her all the best too.
Shock horror woman found to be pregnant. This would be worth headlines if it had 2 heads or something.
