Birmingham chairman David Gold has heaped praise on the work of Alex McLeish and hailed him as one of the Championship's best managers.Gold believes the Blues chief is a rounded manager with several strings to his bow, and a great asset to the Midlands club.
Gold told the Birmingham Mail: "At any club, it's about having confidence in your manager. And if you look at the Championship top three - Wolves, ourselves and Reading - then arguably we have the three best managers in the division.
"It plays such a massive part and personally I have great confidence in Alex McLeish, I believe he is doing a superb job for Birmingham City. It's not just the winning of the games, which is how you ultimately get judged. It is the whole package.
"Most people don't see his whole demeanour, the way he is with the board members, in front of the players, on the training field, with all the staff at the club, and how he handles the media.
"They tend to just to see how he acts on the touchline and on the television every now and again, and read what he says. Alex ticks all the boxes, and that bodes very well for us."

It's always been the same with our board of directors, Gold thinks we're one game from euphoria and Sullivan has the occasional rant. However they seem to keep the club solvent in spite of talking to chancers like Yeung. Personally I cannot enthuse about a manager that has got us relegated and turns out teams playing inept football.
cant wait till saturday will reading do a wolves on the blues 3.4 or 5 away they do lift there game to the better teams I'm sure both teams will be playing in the prem next season, urzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
hello we might not play like Arsenal but we are second...
Managers need time and the Birmingham board have given both Trevor Francis and Steve Bruce a fair amount of this. I like Alex McLeish because he is good with the media. There is criticism of the way that the team are playing at times but they are still second in the table. I just hope that the board give their full backing to Alex in the January transfer window if he thinks that there are players who can improve the team.
Most people just have to see the rubbish he is putting out on the pitch. Lets get someone with some flair and ambition to put an end to the drivel we have seen this season.
