Potters boss handed Sidibe boost

Tue 16 Dec, 03:00 PM

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has revealed his relief after learning Mama Sidibe's knee injury will only keep him out until early in the New Year.Sidibe injured his knee when falling awkwardly early on during Saturday's 0-0 draw with Fulham.

It was feared the striker had damaged his cruciate knee ligaments afetr being stretchered off but Pulis was relieved to hear he in fact hyper-extended his knee.

The Mali striker will miss the Potters' Premier League games against Blackburn, Manchester United and West Ham, but he could return against Liverpool on January 10.

"He'll be out over Christmas and most probably miss the FA Cup game at Hartlepool in the New Year," Pulis told the club's official website.

"But after that we are keeping our fingers crossed.

"It seems that he has hyper-extended his knee and left it a little unstable as a result, so we've got to be careful with him.

"He will have a mix of rest and strengthening work to build up the knee again and most probably wear a brace for a short while to help stabilise it.

"We are relieved it wasn't any worse than this, to be honest, because you can sometimes be in the lap of the gods when it comes to knee injuries."

  2. Great news for Mama, Stoke City and his family as well. Big Mama has been a revelation this season, with his workrate, his passion, and his goals......they count ! !, even if some think he doesn't score enough. Mama is what Stoke City is all about, he loves the club as much as the fans, and he will always give 100%, he wants to stay in the Premier league as much as we do. I hope Mama recovers soon, and knows he is still in our thoughts, just as he was on Saturday.

    Potter's fan.
