Mansfield have missed out on transfer target Peter Gain after he signed an 18-month contract with Dagenham.The Stags boss confirmed his interest in signing midfielder Gain, 31, who left Peterborough earlier this week, but Daggers boss John Still has won the race for his signature.
Gain will be in the Dagenham squad which hosts Grimsby at Victoria Park on Saturday.
