Iain Dowie believes that home victories in the forthcoming league and cup games against Burnley and Millwall could revive Coventry's season. The Sky Blues followed up their impressive FA Cup performance at Blackburn with a dire display in the 2-0 defeat to Midlands rival Leicester.
Coventry risk being dragged into a Championship relegation battle if their faltering league form continues after recording just two wins in their last 11 games ahead of Burnley's visit to the Ricoh Arena.
The City boss believes three points against the Clarets on Saturday coupled with victory in the fourth round of the cup the following weekend would provide a fillip for the club.
"We have got to produce a response and Saturday is now a great opportunity to put a marker down," said Dowie. "We need to put a run together and get some sort of consistency.
"If we win that and then win the FA Cup tie we could be in the fifth round of the cup and midway in the league and all of a sudden it looks a different picture, and that is exactly what we have got to strive for."
