Veteran defender Ugo Ehiogu looks set for a move to Sheffield United after being released from his Rangers contract.
The 35-year-old has travelled south to hold talks with Blades boss Bryan Robson and hopes his old Middlesbrough manager will help resurrect his career.
Ehiogu enjoyed a successful start to his Rangers spell as one of Walter Smith's first signings after the veteran boss returned to the Ibrox helm a year ago.
He helped restore much-needed stability to the back four and won over the fans with a spectacular overhead kick against Celtic to seal a 1-0 win in his Old Firm debut at Parkhead.
However, the form of Carlos Cuellar and David Weir has kept Ehiogu out of the first team this term and his only start came courtesy of a CIS Insurance Cup outing against Third Division East Fife.
The veteran centre-half revealed recently he felt he still had plenty to offer and would only be willing to remain in Glasgow if he was guaranteed first team football.
"At my stage, I need to be playing football but I will always have good memories, none more so than my goal at Parkhead last season," he told the club's website.
"I've really enjoyed my time at Rangers. They are a massive club and I hope they go on to win the championship this season."
Robson told United's website: "I've worked with him before and he is interested in joining the club.
"He has got vast experience and he's terrific in the air."
Rangers have been linked with a loan move for 34-year-old Scotland international Christian Dailly.
