Premier League - Hughes: Kaka deal 'complex'

Eurosport - Sat, 17 Jan 20:19:00 2009

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has admitted that plans to bring Kaka to Eastlands are "complex".

2008-2009 Milan Kaka - 0

However, he is intent on selling the club to the former World Player of the Year and insists he will have a hands-on role in the process.

City's power brokers are due to hold talks with Kaka's father, who is also his agent, in a bid to bring the Brazilian to Manchester from Milan.

Speaking after the 1-0 Premier League victory against Wigan, Hughes said: "From a football management point of view I would love the opportunity to work with such a talented player.

"But it is not a simple transfer. It is not just a case of talking to the club and talking to the boy and getting the deal done within 24-48 hours.

"The deal, if it is to be concluded, is very complex as there are so many elements to it.

"It is not going to be an easy process and won't be concluded quickly. I am sure we will give it the amount of time it deserves.

"We find ourselves in a special situation. We are interested in one of the top players in the world.

"When we get it right we are a good team. We want to make a compelling argument to him that he could be part of something that could be really special."

  2. buying kaka is surely not for short term, or to get immediate success.
if they can persuade kaka now... it might give some advantage for city to buy more world class players in the summer... one thing lead to another...

  3. As a United fan i just think its exciting that another team is buying some success. As Chelsea will have dropped off within the next three years, need another challenger to actually join 'the big three' at the top of the tree. Sorry Chelsea, you were never really up there with the big boys, hey, nottingham forrest won leagues and european cupsand have now faded to where they actualy belong now. Just a matter of time before Chelsea are just a mid table team once again.

  4. by having kaka moved to m-city, it just expressively shown the club owner's desperation. if they think one player can make a different, let them prove it... which i'm sure will never work at the first place. just remember what happened to madrid when they tried to collect all the best players in the world.

as for the citizens who dreamt that kaka will bring their club to the top, let them keep dreaming. :p

  10. Tell me one Brazilian player that has made a real impact in the premier league ?
The one that cost 32 million could not get into Arsenals first team when he was there and has made no real impact on the premier league for City this season

  11. Don't be such a @#$% !!! we are offering £100 mill because we can easily afford £100 mill and it will have no reflection on the ticket price....and all those who think it's 'digusting' you are jealous because you don't have our spending power...United and Chelsea have bought titles and trophys for years...your just pissed off someone else is gonna so it !!! My only worry is that all those plastic fans who support united and chelsea because of their success will soon be jumping ship like the proverbial rats they are - BLUE THRU AND THRU :-)

  12. i hope city buy kaka for 100 mil + ... then i hope they keep paying daft amounts of money for other big name stars ... then when their stadium is 1/4 full because the tickets have gone up to about £300 a game maybe then they will wonder why it's not such a good idea after all ... especially when it isn't 'trendy' anymore for rich arabs to subsidise them and they pull out ... who's gonna buy them then?

bring it on ... it'll be funny to watch

this dope of a manage gets paid what £75,000 a week? and doesnt even understand that he needs to work on the defence of his side not his attacking players

If there gonna get anywhere they need to be conceding a max of 15 goals at this stage

City fail because there manage doesnt understand how to proper a team

    money doesnt buy you everyting..

  17. i give him 1 session at city before he moves.

sure they have the money but there teams rubbish there pritty much fighting to stay in the perm coz of the fact they cant defend they need to walk on the defence not bring more attack players into the team.

you can score 3 goals a game but if u cant defend its pointless and city cant defend

  19. Comment hidden due to its low rating. Show

I cannot see what difference the signing of this overrated Kaka shall do for Manchester City in the short term. It wouldn't be the first time a manager tries to build a team around one person and gets the boot for his "service".
This is the sickness of the game in England now. The everlasting spending of unjustified millions on individuals means that any English talent out there shall be sure of not achieving anything worth reporting, in the international arena. Generally the interest in the international arena might be wavering due to the lack of success of England as a whole. So they are clutching onto the domestic scene where there is real business to be gained.
As for Kaka with his ridiculous religous principles, he is nothing but a joke. Their devotion to anything does not go beyond their overinflated bank balances.

    From sappercommando25, on Sun 18 Jan 8:37AM
  20. spending £120m on one player is plain stupidity and offering a player £500,000 is disrespectful to the rest of the team.
