Audley Harrison to make comeback

Tue, 17 Jan 14:23:00 2012

Audley Harrison is to make his boxing comeback in April against Ali Adams.

Audley Harrison takes it on the chin against David Haye - 0

The 40-year-old was widely reviled after his miserable performance against David Haye in November 2010, with many predicting that he would never enter the ring again following his third-round defeat.

But the former Olympic champion and Strictly Come Dancing contestant will fight International Masters heavyweight champion Adams in a 10-round bout in Brentwood, Essex on April 14.

"I've been sitting on the shelf for 15 months, so I'm grateful for this opportunity," said Harrison.

"With my right arm now healed, I'll have too much for Ali Adams. I intend to show I still have a future in the game."

Harrison added that he sees the bout as a chance to atone for his shocking lack of ambition in the Haye fight, during which he landed just one punch and earned the nickname 'Fraudley' for himself.

"I've never been more disappointed in myself as I felt that night," he said. "Anyone can lose, but I didn't lose with dignity, so I was never going to retire off that performance."

Iraqi-born Adams was disdainful of his opponent, however - and vowed to make Harrison's comeback short-lived.

"Audley is a joke. His fight with Haye was an embarrassment and he still wants to make a comeback," he said.

"I will give him such a beating that Audley will see he does not belong in a boxing ring again."

  5. Audley is NO joke. The is on those who paid to watch him fight Haye. Audley is not forcing you to watch him, but there will be many who are happy to part with their cash just to see him fall!! Now, Audley has a real fight in his hand, not just inside the ring, but also from the paying public too!!
