Rovers making progress - Saunders

Tue, 17 Jan 10:58:26 2012

Dean Saunders believes his Doncaster players are making steady progress in their battle for npower Championship survival.

Rovers were rooted inside the relegation zone when Saunders replaced Sean O'Driscoll in September last year and have remained there throughout his tenure.

However, Saturday's goalless draw with Cardiff stretched their current unbeaten home run to five matches, yielding 11 points with one goal conceded to leave Doncaster three points from safety.

"We're doing all right," said Saunders. "That's 22 points in 19 games (since taking over). If we carry on doing that we'll stay up.

"We've beaten Southampton, we've beaten Leicester, we've beaten Barnsley. I'm really disappointed because I was expecting a win against Cardiff.

"The players are listening, working their socks off and the difference in work-rate and determination since I came in is plain to see."
