Grimsby boss Alan Buckley claimed the team thrashed 4-1 by Dagenham was unrecognisable from the one which had gone on an 11-match unbeaten run.The Mariners were swept aside by the League Two strugglers courtesy of goals from Ross Smith, Dave Rainford (two) and Ben Strevens with Gary Jones grabbing a consolation for Town.
Buckley blasted: "You would not think you were looking at the same players.
"The squad has been so bright and confident but after 10 minutes we did not look ready for a game for whatever reason.
"Dagenham worked very hard and went with a similar system to us and we didn't cope with that at all well. We know we should have done better."
"So many players were below the performance that we have come to expect that it was untrue."
