Dearden salutes battling Stags

Sun 17 Feb, 04:01 PM

Mansfield manager Billy Dearden knows there is still a long way to go to avoid relegation despite their morale-boosting win at Darlington. The Stags won 2-1 at 10-man Darlington but remain three points away from safety after Dagenham also recorded a victory.

Dearden said: "We have a long way to go, don't worry about that.

"This is a difficult place to come and get a result and we knew that we would have to battle from start to finish to get something out of the game but we have (Jefferson) Louis.

"He is a big striker who puts himself about and like all strikers he loves scoring goals."

Dearden failed to see the events that led to Alan White's dismissal, but he said: "You raise your hands and you've got problems. The linesman saw it and he allegedly struck my big fella who has then gone down."
