Gannon left to rue Logan error

Sun 17 Feb, 05:00 PM

Stockport manager Jim Gannon was left to rue goalkeeper Conrad Logan's red card as side lost 2-1 to Bury at Edgeley Park on Saturday.Gannon acknowledged it was an individual error that led to Logan being dismissed in bizarre fashion.

As Logan prepared a regulation clearance, Bury debutant Efe Sodje sneaked from behind him and nicked the ball, before Logan was forced to haul him down just outside the box.

Gannon said: "It was a clear goalscoring opportunity, so it was a sending-off. Conrad made two bad mistakes so that was disappointing.

"It was a harsh punishment, but that's the rules. It was disappointing because all of the other lads had worked so hard. I had no problem putting Adam [Proudlock] in goal, he's competent enough. I was just disappointed that the defenders in front of him didn't contribute more in the second half.

"I think they only had two real efforts on goal in the second half, but even then the nature of their goals was disappointing."
