Lambert eyeing promotion bid

Sun 17 Feb, 05:15 PM

Wycombe boss Paul Lambert insists his side's promotion push is back on track after a torrid run of results ended with a 1-0 win over Rotherham. The Chairboys were sent crashing to defeat in the last minute against Mansfield last week before throwing away a two-goal lead in the draw against Bury days later. But it was all change at Adams Park thanks to defender David McCracken, who netted his first goal for the club after joining from Dundee United over the summer.

"I am delighted with the way the lads responded after a difficult week," Lambert said. "It doesn't matter how you win - you have just got to do it and it was a massive three points for us.

"Rotherham came out and gave us a game unlike Mansfield who were fighting for their lives and just sat in.

"David [McCracken] was great and he made up for the result against Bury and responded in the right way.

"We were in the play-off race before the game and we are in it right now. I thought the crowd were a bit quiet considering where we are but the players have to keep giving them something to shout about."
